Batman
01-26/02-02-1967 "Penguin Is a Girl's Best Friend..."

Carolyn Jones returns as Marsha, Queen of Diamonds...

Marsha enters into an alliance with The Penguin...

And is thrilled to be starring in a movie with Batman...

She arrives for her love scene in a scandalous costume that she has to change...

It's somewhat difficult to understand how the thigh-high silver mini is any less-scandalous...

She lays on a series of love-potion-lipstick kisses that Batman struggles to resist...

Back to the drawing board on whipping up another love potion with Aunt Hilda...

Marsha beguiles the guards to a vault...

By doing a Dance of the 7 Veils...

And blowing Love Dust into their faces...

The guards expectantly count each drop of a veil...

But it's time for Marsha to go...

The guards beg her to stay...

"Here's something to remember me by..."

And she paralyzes them with an overwhelming whoosh of Love Dust...

Thanks to Starman* for the large vidcaps...

Marsha's 2nd appearance features different dynamics than her 1st... While both keep to the motif of making men adore her by drugging them, her style and methods change in the 2nd... In the first she was less active and more a ruling Matriarch, merely lounging about, shooting men up with love darts and having them fall on their knees before her, helplessly worshipping her... Here she is more like a HenchGirl in service to The Penguin, albeit a most powerful Devil's Assistant as she actively kisses, dances & blows Love Dust... But she's more casual - less serious this time about enslaving men... While she plays up the jokiness of being alluring, her caricature actually heightens the Femmenomena of Female Seduction... She doesn't have to be serious about it, but men will fall for it anyway because they are programmed to... When she does the Dance of the 7 Veils, she is clearly not the most beautiful gal in the world, but the look on her face is that she knows the men won't be able to resist her, as she is employing an ancient time-honored Dance of Seduction (and packing some potent Love Dust  she knows she can blow the men away with... ) Some male viewers resist the Power of Marsha because she is older and not suited to their attractive interests, but Marsha is unique in that while not being the greatest of physical beauties (save for a killer pair of legs), she is utterly in control of her Feminine Powers, more so than any younger fetching beauty... What both Marsha appearances share in common is that the Idea of Love is ultimately more powerful than the WOman to a man -- a man is essentially programmed to fall in love with any WOman he can find / get... And it is the Knowing WOman who can exploit this inherent disposition of a man who rules...

The marvelous Shiny Silver Romanesque costume  with the thigh-high hemline / killer legs would be used again to equally startling effect with the appearance of Lorelei Circe, The Siren... The 2 characters are sister variations on the same theme of Male Worship-Hypnosis & Female Dominance...
