Second
of four International Actresses (along
with Daliah Lavi, Senta Berger, Elke Sommer)
set out to bedevil the easily-bedeviled Matt
Helm in the spy-spoof series. The series formula dictated the Bad Girls were
Foreign and the Good Girls were American
(Stella Stevens, Ann-Margret, Janice Rule (Janice
Rule? What's a Method Actress doing in a Matt Helm flick?),
Sharon Tate). The hokiest casting was
American Tina Louise playing a Spanish Bad / Good Girl in the last of the
series, The Wrecking Crew,
which also added Nancy Kwan to the international mix. Of all the Foreign
SpyGirls, "Coco Duquette" has the least-taxing assignment
(offering Dino a drink). Worse, she
has to act as though sexually attracted to Karl Malden...
(if a man's nose can be construed as a
phallic symbol, perhaps no one should ever see Karl without his shorts on...)
