While
her character doesn't have much to do, Ursula Andress' ascension from the seas
in a bikini with a knife strapped on signaled that the 1960s were going to be a
bit more kinky and that Fantasy Femmes were going to explore a deeper depth of
the male sexual psyche... In just one moment on the screen she launched a
projection of all the possibilities for 1960s Femmes... Truly an Iconic
appearance that captured the imagination of a generation and launched a series
of FemmeErotic roles for UA, "Honey Ryder" paves the way for a different sort of
Female action character and represents a clear break from 1950s MM-influenced
femininity... The Girls will be able to handle themselves on their own from now
on, but while UA's Honey is an obvious spark for 60s Femmes, actual "Bond Girls"
rarely had much action in the series, with the exception of "Pussy Galore..."
60's "Bond Girls" tend to be window-dressing, more as alluring enticement than
factual-actual action figures...
