1960: The Seven Thieves

JOAN COLLINS

as "Melanie"

Some of the greatest promos as Joan The Bone proves you don't need an abundant body to sell yourself as a Stripper...

When she isn't passing herself off as a society lady...

Melanie's a  beatnik dancer...

Grooving to the wails of saxophonist  Eli Wallach!

Blow Eli, blow!

This fella can't get enough of Joan The Bone...
.

Or maybe he just really likes Eli's sax-playing...

Perhaps Joan Collins' greatest strength as an actress is how believable she can be in utterly ludicrous situations... It's a toss-up between what's more absurd: Eli Wallach as a beatnik saxophonist or her as a beatnik stripper... And the "beatnik" aspect is emphasized in the film, for no apparent purpose other than a lame attempt to be relevantly hip... Joan The Bone doesn't immediately call to mind the fleshy qualities of a Stripper, but that's where the "beatnik" part plays -- she's so counter-culture she's a Skinny Stripper... And a key plot point is that a "square" is thoroughly enthralled with her hipster skinny stripping... And on-stage alone, she incredibly achieves the erotic effect... Which is immediately blown by Eli jumping on stage, dropping to his knees and honking his horn...
