1958: Rally 'Round the Flag Boys

JOAN COLLINS

as "Angela Hoffa"

Angela Hoffa is dead-set on seducing a neighbor...

"Ping!"

She arranges for him to take her home and then cajoles him into staying for a nightcap, pulling the old "slip-into-something-more comfortable" routine...

The Suburban Seductress descends, decked out...

"What's on your mind, Harry?"

Intent on thoroughly beguiling him, she atomizes the air with an enticing perfume...

He is instantly overwhelmed, going ga-ga over her clothes, remarking "That's a devastating outfit!"

"Oh? Do you like it?"

She atomizes her lair with perfume domination and is now ready to make her move...

He's not ready for her move being foot domination...

She then casts her net over him...

And reels him in...

He's willing to do anything she wants, now...

While plying him with booze, she turns on the music...

Luring him to lose himself and dance...

Once he lets go he can't control himself...

And she literally has him swinging from the chandelier...

For round 2 she follows him to an out-of-town hotel...

Again she plans to dominate him with perfume, threatening that "Pink boudoir: one drop made you quite excitable, 2 drops will make a man a quivering, whimpering mass of jelly..."

In his excitement he stains his pants...

She forces him to undress...

"Darling, I really can't tell whether you're coming or going..."

"I'm not going to bite you..."

She strips and he's too afraid to face her...

As an Indian ready to seduce settlers...

The logic of the "comedy" is that the man is sexually repressed by his suburban domesticity and the Alluring WOman represents unbridled sexuality, tempting the man to shirk his family responsibilities and become a Sex Slave to her Sluttiness... Since this is a 1950s movie there's no chance the man will choose Sex Slavery over family, but it's a bit difficult to follow how a fella would pass up Joan Collins (Sexier Than Sin) for Joanne Woodward (homely as a hut)... It's a classic Good Girl v. Bad Girl choice, and while the message is supposed to be the wise man always chooses the Good Girl, both seduction scenes highlight the man's fear of himself as a sexual being... He chooses the Good Girl because he's afraid of the Bad Girl, who is clearly a Man-eating Dominatrix... Her name is "Angela," but she is the Devil's Temptress... Her name is also "Hoffa," but we don't think this has anything to do with the Teamsters..
