The Cyd Charisse formula was starting to wear thin by 1956... She's repeating her stereotypes here -- once again a ballerina "high-art" dancer who is forced to hoof it in a tacky show... She's sexually repressed, but when it's time to let it all hang out she's show-stopper sexy... The promo ads above are a lot better than her actual performances, although the "Frankie & Johnny" number does provide the requisite "Sexy Woman Shooting Her Man Down" moment... And of course, the legs, there's always the legs...
