1953: The Glass Web
GoldDigger Paula Rainier has this peculiar habit...
Whenever she wants a man to do something for her, she places her finger to his lips...
She's not at all interested when a man wants something from her...
She calls up a married-man she's blackmailing...
Slips on a pair of nylons...
And works her finger-magic on him...
(He's not pleased to hear how much money she's blackmailing him for...)

Since she's going to be murdered, the Paula Rainer character gets to be really bad before she's done in. She's just using and abusing men all over the place, teasing and not pleasing them, working them for all they got. This is one of the first obvious influences of the Marilyn Monroe Femmenomena, and not in a comedy or musical, but a film noir, so instead of your Friendly Seductive Siren, you get the Blonde Heartless Bitch, the dark underside to the MM craze, and a 1950s sub-genre in itself. |
